Professor Stephen Parrish re-appointed as College Examinations Adviser

 
The College is pleased to announce that Professor Stephen Parrish has been re-appointed as the College's Examinations Adviser. The role of the Examinations Adviser is to advise Council and, in particular, the College's Academic Committee and Secretariat on all aspects of the conduct of pre-registration training and the full range of the College's examinations including the PQE Parts 1 & 2, Higher Qualifications and Delegated Functions.
Professor Parrish currently occupies the post of Professor of Clinical Vision Science with the Department of Optometry and Ophthalmic Dispensing at Anglia Polytechnic University and is Visiting Professor at the School of Health, Staffordshire University. He is a principal examiner in anatomy and physiology for the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO). He is also a College Examiner, and Editor-in-Chief of the College's CET journal Optometry in Practice and has supervised nine pre-registration students.

On learning of his re-appointment, Professor Parrish said: "I am delighted to be able to continue the work that I have previously carried out as Examinations Adviser for the College. I hope to be able to use the experience that I have gained over the last four years to assist the College in developing both the pre-registration year and its examinations, both at entry level to the profession and beyond."

The Secretary of the College, Peter Leigh, commented: "I am extremely pleased that Professor Parrish has been re-appointed to a role for which he has a wealth of experience and knowledge. I am sure that he will carry on the excellent work that he has undertaken over the years."
