The College of Optometrists announces an exciting addition to an already impressive line up of workshops and lectures for Conference 2002 in Liverpool on the 17 and 18 November 2002.
The workshop, entitled "Refitting the Lapsed Contact Lens Wearer", will take place on the 18 November at 12.00pm and will be presented by Anna Sulley, Professional Affairs Manager at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care.
Patients who have lapsed from contact lens wear comprise a significant proportion of the population. Ms Sulley will review the results of recent studies to improve understanding of lapsed contact wearers and their potential for returning to lens wear. The workshop will focus on:
- key reasons for discontinuation
- proportion of contact lens wearers that can be successfully refitted with currently available products and replacement frequencies
- methods to successfully attract lapsed wearers into practices
- practical tips on how to re-fit lapsed wearers
Workshop sessions are open to delegates on both days of the conference and cover various topics, including learning disabilities, orthokeratology and binocular vision. The conference offers 15 CET credits, of which 2.5 are contact lens related, and further credits for the above workshop have been applied for. All delegates will also have access to an exhibition and there will be the opportunity to socialise after the day's lectures with a 5-course dinner, which will be hosted at Liverpool's Town Hall on the evening of Sunday 17 November.
