Supervisor Courses - Places Still Available

30 September 2002

Places are still available on training days to be held during May for people who intend to become a supervisor or who are thinking of doing so or for those who have supervised in the past and would like a refresher course.

The courses will discuss supervisor arrangements in detail and will also draw on the experiences of a recently qualified optometrist and an existing supervisor. Costing £40 per attendee, they will be held from 10.30am - 4.30pm in Birmingham on the 30th May 2002 and in Newcastle on the 31st May 2002.
Please note that the Birmingham course is now full, but there are still places available on the Newcastle course.

The minimum requirement for becoming a supervisor is normally to have been registered for at least three years by 30 June prior to commencement of the placement, to be a member of the College and to be someone who is willing to actively help and encourage a pre-registration trainee through his or her year. The rules have recently been reviewed and amended in a number of aspects including supervision of more than one trainee in a practice.

Anyone interested in attending the day's training or in receiving further information about becoming a supervisor should contact Sophie Hughes at the College of Optometrists on tel: 020 7766 4365 or by email to shughes@college-optometrists.org
