College Library to close for refurbishment

27 November 2003

The College of Optometrists’ library will close between 5 January and 1 February 2004 for refurbishment. The disruption in service will affect Members’ ability to borrow books and study in the library, not the renewal of loans or the return of books. There will be a limited postal service for those resources that are most frequently in demand.

The library is one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of optical works, both modern and historical, in existence. The refurbishment, which will increase the library’s capacity considerably, will ensure that the library remains a comprehensive, up to date resource that is easily accessible to all Members. It is both a reference and a lending library and although its primary function is to support Members, it also provides answers to enquiries on vision and related topics from members of the public, national and public libraries and researchers from all over the world.

Should you have any queries about the closure, please contact the Librarian, Jan Ayres, on 020 7766 4352.
