The College of Optometrists

The College of Optometrists is to launch a new website as part of its Jubilee year celebrations. The new look website, to be launched on Thursday 01 September, will be more comprehensive, easier to navigate and will contain all the latest news from the College and the industry as a whole.

 

The new website, which is in the first phase of its development, will become a key tool in providing information to Members, the public, the media and other stakeholders and in promoting the value of optometrists' services to a wider audience. 

 

The website is being structured to enable users to find information that is relevant to them quickly and easily. It will incorporate a brand new public focused section including fact sheets on common eye conditions, a detailed look at the eye examination and general information on eye health. An online media centre will give journalists answers to their most frequently asked questions, information on the latest research and access to College spokespeople.

 

A Members’ Area will provide Members with a “one-stop-shop” for their information needs, containing important membership information and access to College publications including Guidance and Framework documents and Optometry in Practice. 

 

A dedicated students’ area will include the latest information on the Scheme for Registration and examinations and “PRP Talk” – an online discussion forum that will enable students to discuss any queries regarding their exams, studies or Pre-Registration Period with their peers, College Examiners and experts in the field.  

 

The new site will be launched at www.college-optometrists.org in September.
