Optometry Tomorrow 2006 Keynote Speaker Announced

The College is pleased to announce that Dr Peter Hamilton, FRCS, FRCOphth, FCMSA (Hon) will lead the Keynote Champness Lecture, sponsored by the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers, at the Annual College Conference, Optometry Tomorrow 2006.

Dr Hamilton is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and leading retinal specialist whose research focus is age-related macular disease and diabetic retinopathy. He worked for more than 30 years at Moorfields Eye Hospital and was one of the pioneers who introduced the use of lasers for treatment of ophthalmic diseases. He has published widely in peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals; is the lead editor of the well-respected reference work, Text Atlas of the Retina, and is the lead author of the book, Management of Diabetic Retinopathy.

Dr Hamilton joins a wealth of world-renowned speakers on the Optometry Tomorrow 2006 Lecture and Workshop Programme, including:

  • Dr Frank Eperjesi, Lecturer at Aston University
  • Dr Chris Hammond, Ophthalmologist, City University, London
  • Kevin Lewis, Vice President of the College
  • Dr Paul Murphy,Director of Teaching and Senior Lecturer, University of Wales
  • Mr A Raghu-Ram, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Wales
  • Dr Margaret Woodhouse, Senior Lecturer, Cardiff University

The Annual College Conference, Optometry Tomorrow 2006, will take place on Sunday 2 and Monday 3 April 2006 at the Bristol Marriott Hotel City.
