College Trustee recognised for her contribution

Dr Cindy Tromans, Consultant Optometrist at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and Member of College Council, was this year nominated to attend the 50th annual Women of the Year Lunch at the Guildhall on 3rd Dr Cindy Trowmans (left) with Dr Louise Culham
November.  The event brings together and celebrates the achievements of outstanding women from all walks of life in one of the most significant assemblies of women in the world.
 
Cindy was recognised for her contribution to optometry, which includes her work in the field of hospital optometry and for her other roles including her work for the College of Optometrists.  Cindy has previously chaired the AOP Hospital Optometrists Committee and is currently a Trustee of the College of Optometrists and Chairman of its Research Committee.  Women honoured this year included Baroness Thatcher who was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award and Tina Turner who was awarded Woman of the Year 2005.
 
Commenting on her nomination, Cindy said  “It was an honour to be nominated to attend the Women of the Year lunch for the work I do, and to meet other women who have made a real contribution in their areas of expertise.”
