Fight for Sight's Fundraising Weeks a Huge Success
Fight for Sight's Fundraising Weeks a Huge Success
08 September 2005
Fight for Sight has run two very successful fundraising weeks for opticians over the summer.
Forty different branches took part, each pledging to raise at least £40 to help celebrate Fight for Sight’s fortieth birthday – although many raised much more.
Events included dressing up, coffee mornings, selling pin badges and bingo evenings.
Lesley Harding, a practice manager at Moorfields Eye Hospital dyed her hair bright red for two days. She said: “When the form came in from Fight for Sight I thought it would be fun to get involved. I dyed my hair red as I have white hair and I knew it was something people would notice! My colleagues were very generous with their sponsorship and I raised £140 – much more than I was expecting.”
Every entrant in the fundraising week was entered into a draw to win four tickets to the London Eye. The prize was won by AP Sparrow in Leeds.
Sarina Jesudason, Fundraising Executive at Fight for Sight said: “We’re delighted that so many opticians got involved in the fundraising week
raising both funds and awareness for Fight for Sight. Money is still pouring in – they all did really well for us.”
