Fight for Sight recently held an awards ceremony to celebrate its 40th anniversary and thank some of its many hard-working fundraisers.
The event was held on the 30th floor of Clifford Chance’s office in London’s Docklands and attended by over 100 people.
The awards were presented by TV psychiatrist Dr Raj Persaud. The winners were:
Company of the Year: Specsavers
Fundraiser of the Year: (sponsored by Vanalstyne Ltd) Nigel Robinson, an optometrist who raised £3,500 for the charity walking the Great Wall of China.
Also nominated: Ruth Bellinger, mum of two-year-old Hannah who has retinoblastoma who has raised £800 for Fight for Sight running a 5K run in Bournemouth.
Paul Whitbread who raised £3,000 running the 10K road race.
Special mention: Charles Medhurst, aged 80, who has supported Fight for Sight for the whole of its 40 years and run seven marathons for the charity.
Independent Optician of the Year: Eye Deals Ltd in Somerset.
Head of Fundraising Annu Mayor said: “We were all really pleased with how the event went. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and it was great for us to have the chance to thank just a small number of our huge band of loyal supporters.”
“We’d also like to thank Clifford Chance who hosted the event and generously provided the canapés and fantastic cake and Specsavers who sponsored the champagne.”
