The General Optical Council (GOC) today announced the results of the elections for representatives of dispensing opticians and of optometrists in the constituencies of England, Scotland and Wales.
The newly elected Council members are listed below. They will be formally appointed by the Council at its meeting on 23 November.
Dispensing Opticians – James Hanfield RUSSELL, Keith Stewart CAVAYE, Rosemary Eleanor BAILEY, Jennifer Sally BROWER, Kim Sally DEVLIN.
Optometrists (England) – David Cecil CARTWRIGHT, Nicholas James RUMNEY, Charles Rodney WASS.
Optometrists (Scotland) – Donald Alexander CAMERON.
Optometrists (Wales) – Gwyneth Jane MORGAN.
Roger Anderson was returned unopposed to represent optometrists in Northern Ireland.
The new members will take up office on 1 January 2007 and will serve for a period of five years.
Overall turnout in the election was 20%. A total of 3,322 votes were cast out of 16,247 voting papers issued.
