New publishers for OT announced

18 May 2006

The Association of Optometrists is delighted to announce the appointment of leading contract publisher McMillan-Scott to publish its journal and Magazine Optometry Today.

AOP Chief Executive Bob Hughes said "We are looking forward to delivering an even better OT to our members and to optics as a whole. We have given McMillan-Scott a brief to bring innovation and a more contemporary and professional feel to the journal’s design and content.

"OT is already the market leader in most areas and particularly in Continuing Education. However we will not be standing still and over the next few months we will be investing heavily in further initiatives to reinforce our leadership position and deliver an even better range of education opportunities to optometrists, dispensing opticians and to practice staff.

"We are delighted that Shelagh Hardy, a well respected optical journalist and a former Editor of Optician, has agreed to work with us as Consultant Editor. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience which will ensure that OT continues to be the most insightful magazine in the sector."

McMillan-Scott is a recognised leader in the not-for-profit publishing market, and produces titles for almost every segment of the public sector, including many key professional associations, trade associations, government departments and local authorities. Experience gained with clients such as the RNIB, British Veterinary Association, Royal College of Midwives, Association of Accounting Technicians and the CBI provides McMillan-Scott with an enviable track record in delivering tailor-made publishing programmes for clients with a strong, professional membership.

Much of McMillan-Scott’s work is print-based, but there are also important web design and events provision operations within the company.

In addition to its strong publishing pedigree, McMillan-Scott is part of the fast-growing Ten Alps plc factual TV production group founded by Bob Geldof. This widely based and experienced media group provides the AOP access to an innovative and creative resource in the world of digital media.
