The College of Optometrists triumphed at last week’s Memcom Awards – Communications awards for membership organisations – winning more awards than any other entrant, with three Highly Commended out of the six available categories – for Conference Promotion, Website and Newsletter.
In their commendation of the College’s promotion of its annual conference, Optometry Tomorrow, the judges called the range of promotional material “impressive and cohesive” and said “Taking on board of members’ views when setting the agenda showed an organisation that is in touch with its membership”. The judges said the College website “Not only reflects their professional status but is also accessible to the public”. And its quarterly newsletter, In Focus, was described as “inviting, friendly and still informative”.
Commenting on the awards, Director of Member Services and Communications, Beth Elgood, said, “The College Communications team has worked hard over the past couple of years to update and improve all of our communications activity. We were therefore particularly delighted to be recognised for our achievement across a variety of different categories, in the face of some strong competition from other membership organisations.”
