College Chief Executive is UK Quality Leader
30 November 2007
College of Optometrists Chief Executive, Bryony Pawinska, has been nominated by the Chartered Quality Institute for the European Quality Leader of the Year Awards. Bryony was one of four finalists for the UK Quality Leader of the Year Awards, presented at a ceremony in Edinburgh last week, and she and the winner are now going forward to the European Awards to be held in Brussels in the Spring.
The annual UK awards are managed by the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) and recognise individuals who have achieved success for their organisation and its stakeholders through their leadership of a change management and quality improvement programme. Selected UK Quality Leaders are further nominated by the CQI to be the UK representatives to the European Organisation for Quality (EOQ) Quality Leader Award
Commenting on her success, Bryony Pawinska said “Last week’s CQI conference and awards demonstrated that, while quality management approaches are still dominated by manufacturing, there is a strong body of support for quality processes which are based not so much on traditional ISO certified systems, but on developing clear strategic and business plans and monitoring achievement of business goals. I am delighted that the teamwork approach between the staff and Council members that has worked so well at the College over recent years has been recognised by the CQI in this way.”
