College launches new routes to Fellowship

22 February 2008

The College has introduced an exciting new, more flexible way of achieving Fellowship based on achievements in the workplace as well as success in examinations. Applicants will apply for Fellowship by submitting a portfolio of evidence covering a wide range of practice demonstrating how their accomplishments have benefitted the practice of optometry as a whole, as well as their own practice.

The new route to College Fellowship was launched at the recent Diploma Ceremony by College President, Kevin Lewis and replaces the previous approach to attaining Fellowship, which was based entirely on academic achievement in the College’s Higher Qualifications.

Commenting on the new approach, Kevin Lewis said “This means that achievement in the workplace or other areas related to the advancement of optometry will be considered alongside academic achievement. This makes Fellowship accessible to more College members who have made a significant achievement to the practice of optometry.”

Guidance on how to apply together with the necessary application forms can be found on the College website or by emailing.
