Dr Rob Hogan took over from Kevin Lewis as President of the College of Optometrists at the College’s Annual General Meeting on Saturday 12 April. Dr Cindy Tromans was elected as Vice President. Each will serve a term of two years.
Commenting on his election to the Presidency, Rob said “I am delighted to become President of the College and look forward to spending the next two years building on the work of my predecessor, Kevin Lewis, taking the College from strength to strength. This weekend’s excellent College conference, Optometry Tomorrow, run by the College in conjunction with the Second World Conference on Optometric Globalisation, with its Gala Dinner at the Guildhall was an amazing start to my two year term.”
Speaking at his final AGM as College President, Kevin Lewis expressed his pride “that this profession is supported by an ever-stronger College, drawing that strength from the loyalty of its Members and the time and energy they devote to making their professional body a success. The College has a strong foundation and is capable of delivering continued success on behalf of the profession in the future.”
The results of the election of new Members of the Board of Trustees were also announced at the AGM. Dr Kamlesh Chauhan, Sarah Farrant, Sanjay Patel and Sue Stentiford were elected to the Board for the first time and Professor John Lawrenson was re-elected.
