What Materials are Available From the Library?


6,500 Optical Books, Pamphlets & Audiovisual Titles: Our collection ranges from the first edition of Newton’s Optics to the very latest textbooks on optometry. Search the Library Catalogue for what you need, or browse the Recent Additions page to see what's new.

Over 100 Journal Titles: The Library holds over 100 journal titles, including 38 current journals, many of which are available electronically. See our Journals page for a complete list.

British Standards in Print and Online: College members have access to over 3000 British Standards. Contact the library for details on how to access these standards.

Reference Collection: Includes theses, Government publications, College publications, and general reference materials.

Historical Collections: The Library has an outstanding collection of early works by the great scientists of the past who studied optics and the workings of the human eye. The collection includes works dating from the 15th to the early 20th century. See the Historical Collection pages for featured items, and search the Library Catalogue for specific titles.

Other Collections: The College Library also houses two external, reference-only collections belonging to the British Contact Lens Association and the Ophthalmic Antiques International Collectors Club.
