Current Awareness

What it is

In addition to the other ways that the College keeps Members up to date, we offer an alerting service for those Members that wish to stay current in a specific area of interest.

The Information Specialist will work with you to create a profile based on your area of interest, content requirements, preferred frequency, and delivery method. Based on this profile, you will be sent references to articles, reports and legislation, tables of contents, and new books. You can then access these publications via the College Library, or simply scan the abstracts.

Types of Content Available

Latest Articles:

Based on your profile, an automated PubMed search will be created to find relevent references. You choose how often you want to be alerted, and how detailed the references should be. Articles can then be accessed via the College Library, or ordered from the British Library.

Reports and Legislation:

The Information Specialist can set up a search for legislation or government reports that are relevant to your subject area and alert you when any are published.

Tables of Contents:

Alerts can be set up for you to receive the table of contents for your favourite journals. Articles can then be accessed via the College Library, or ordered from the British Library.

Book Alerts:

Whenever new books arrive at the College Library, the Information Specialist alert you to any relevant volumes.

Delivery

Alerts for journal articles, legislation, and tables of contents can be delivered via email or RSS feeds. Alerts for reports and books will be sent via email.

Frequency

Members can decide how frequently they'd like to be updated, I.e. weekly, monthly or quarterly.
