Did you Know?
"Red and yellow and pink and green": The song 'Sing a Rainbow' is learned and sung today by many primary school children. It was written by Arthur Hamilton and was first heard in the film Pete Kelly's Blues (1955). The lyrics do not, in fact, name the colours of the rainbow accurately.
Did you Know?
In 1993 the British-born neurologist Oliver Sacks from New York visited the Micronesian islands of Pingelap and Pohnpei where the inhabitants are all born with total colour vision deficiency. He wrote about his fascinating discoveries in his book The Island of the Colour Blind (1996) a copy of which may be found in our library.
