Scheme for Registration

The Scheme for Registration (SfR) consists of Work-based assessments and a Final Assessment under examination conditions.

To enrol on the Scheme trainees must have gained a degree in optometry from an institution recognised by the GOC at 2.2 or above, or must have successfully completed the GOC’s Optometry Progression Scheme. They also need a valid a Certificate of Clinical Competency, which is awarded on graduation. It is valid for two years.

A presentation and videos introducing the Scheme for Registration can be found below. The current handbook, Regulations and information on the current Final Assessment can also be downloaded from this section of the site. Trainees will be sent a handbook when they enrol.

As soon as trainees have a placement, they should complete and return the information form so that the College can begin to prepare for enrolment. As soon as trainees have received their degree result, they should submit the enrolment form and fee.
