Accredited by the College of Optometrists, this professional qualification gives optometrists key training and skills in the detection, diagnosis and referral pathways for Chronic open angle glaucoma.

This course is an exciting opportunity for optometrists to extend their knowledge and position themselves for extended roles within community and hospital optometry. The course will update and extend participants knowledge of the pathogenesis, epidemiology, diagnosis and management of glaucoma.

Participating optometrists will further develop their clinical expertise and decision-making skills with regard to managing glaucoma in clinical practice in an evidence-based framework.

This Professional Certificate accredited by the College of Optometrists is delivered using a mixture of online, distance learning material and face-to-face tutorials and practical sessions at the Ulster University, Coleraine campus.

Assessment will be conducted at an on campus assessment and practical demonstration of competencies.

Ulster University has pioneered the delivery of distance learning in the UK and has many years of experience in providing bespoke support for students learning online. This expertise will be coupled with an optional on campus tutorial and clinical practice session (depending on current level of expertise) at the Ulster University’s Optometry clinic in Coleraine.

These sessions will be timetabled to suit the needs of students, including weekends and evening sessions.

The flexible nature of the delivery of this Professional Certificate allows the participant to learn at their own pace, in their own time and to complete assessments when they feel ready to do so.
