VR headsets restore visual function

Virtual reality (VR) headsets could restore visual function in patients with moderate to severe visual impairment caused by conditions such as age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma. So claims a feature in the New York Times, describing a remotely controlled, wearable device called IrisVision, which enhances the image generated by patients’ remaining visual areas to enable clearer vision (Morrissey, 2020).
