When would you issue borderline prescriptions?

Dispensing borderline prescriptions can be a little bit like walking on a tightrope. It can be difficult deciding whether the prescription will provide a benefit in the real world. I would only dispense a small prescription if the patient was symptomatic, and I felt it could help. However, in these situations I would always clearly convey the strength of the prescription to the patient, as well as the possibility of it not meeting expectations so the patient receives all the information needed to make an informed choice.
