Interested in facilitating at a College event? If so, this is the must-attend training for you.
Peer discussion is an important CET requirement for optometrists and this facilitator training event will give you the skills to be able to confidently facilitate peer discussions.
You will receive training on the role of the facilitator, core facilitation skills and best practice and tips on personal impact and effectiveness. During the afternoon you will work in small groups to put into practice the knowledge you have learnt during the day using case studies. You will gain feedback from trainers throughout the training.

This is an opportunity to have something to eat whilst networking with fellow attendees. We encourage you to arrive by 12.15pm to allow yourself plenty of time to park, register and have a bite to eat.
The introduction will include a brief overview of the plan for the afternoon.
This session will include an interactive exercise for delegates to discuss the role of the facilitator and the challenges of facilitating. There will also be an overview of facilitator requirements for College events.
This session is fully interactive with all delegates participating in groups to contribute to discussions of facilitation skills and best practice based on College and GOC guidance. Content will include:
This is an opportunity to have some tea / coffee and speak further with fellow attendees.
This session will provide practical, hands-on experience of facilitation in small groups using College peer discussion case studies and focusing on practising and demonstrating skills that have been learnt. Each delegate gets the opportunity to practise their facilitation skills in turn. Fellow delegates participate in the peer discussion throughout and trainers and peers will give individual feedback.
An open and interactive Q&A and feedback session with all delegates as well as a recap of key points from the training.
Although this event is free of charge to College members, it is vital that you register in advance. This event is open to practising members.
