Overview

Your next free member CET event in the South East region will take place in Reading on Tuesday 26 September from 6pm.

The evening will consist of an interactive lecture on flashers and floaters by Tom H Williamson followed by a peer discussion.

This is an opportunity to have something to eat whilst networking with fellow attendees and exhibitors. We encourage you to arrive by 6pm to allow yourself plenty of time to park, register and have a bite to eat.

7pm Lecture by Professor Tom H Williamson

"Flashes and floaters a primary care conundrum" 

The lecture will examine the presentation of symptoms and signs of posterior vitreous detachment. The conflict of clinical practices in the primary care setting and in tertiary practice will be discussed. Treatment of the complications of the condition will be examined. In particular a risk analysis will be discussed related to presenting signs and symptoms.
 
Learning objectives
 
  • To determine referral patterns appropriate to different presentations of symptoms and signs of vitreoretinal disorders
  • To debate the application of different levels of competency to different clinical environments
  • To discuss medicolegal implications related to posterior vitreous detachment
  • To discuss medicolegal implications related to posterior vitreous detachment
  • To understand the risk analysis of retinal tear formation in relation to symptomatic posterior vitreous detachment.
