Pre-registration placement, Boots Opticians, Lymington/New Milton
About the practice
This position will be split between two nearby practices, New Milton and Lymington. New Milton is a long established practice we have owned for over 10 years. This practice has had numerous Pre-Reg Optometrists, so the store and team are familiar with how to assist throughout the year. It consists of two test rooms both with phoropters and all the other usual kit including Goldman, autorefractor, non-contact tonometer, OCT, Henson fields and auto-focimetry.
New Milton is a lovely town situated a short walk from the pebble beach at Barton on Sea. Lymington is a brand new store, which we refit and opened its doors within our business in October 2022. This is a large store, with four testing rooms, an Ophthalmology room, meeting room and large sized staff room. In addition to the equipment New Milton has, it also has a CHRONOS refractor, MYAH dual Myopia & Dry eye assessment machine, and dry eye treatment machines. You can see photos on our Facebook page. Lymington is a stunning town, a short journey from New Milton, and is situated in the heart of the picturesque New Forest.
About the role
This is a full time role, split between New Milton and Lymington to give a variety of experience and to experience different supervisors. The journey is a short bus ride between the two locations, or if the applicant is a driver, is easily commutable from as far as Bournemouth, Ringwood and Totton. The role will consist of starting with dispensing mostly, and gradually building up to 5 days testing per week as dispensing numbers are achieved. We enrol all our students on the Boots Pre-Reg courses, J&J STEP programme and also run in-house training days with our Pre-Reg lead. Applications from those who have started their Pre-Reg elsewhere will be considered.
