Gray Opticians is a friendly independent, welcoming practice in Rugby, Warwickshire with a reputation for the highest levels of patient care. We enjoy a pleasant outlook over trees and flowers on the outskirts of Rugby town centre. The practice is easily accessible, being only 10 mins drive from the M6 and a 15-minute walk from the station which serves the London to Birmingham line. The current optometrist/owner and her predecessor together have provided a total of over 65 years’ service to the community. The combination of excellent patient care and investment in state-of-the-art equipment have enabled us to build up an enviable reputation within the town and surrounding area. We were recently joined by an experienced part-time optometrist who shares our passion to provide the best clinical care to our valued and loyal patients. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic optometrist to join our friendly team for 3 days a week (more days may be available in future, if desired.) The position would suit all levels of experience. You will be fully supported by both optometrists, two qualified dispensing opticians two dispensing assistants and two optical assistants. The ideal candidate should be passionate about delivering high-quality patient care, have excellent communication skills, and be able to work well within a team. You will benefit from a varied workload, having the time and equipment required to make the most of your skills and experience and will be encouraged in your professional development and career progression. 

We have two consulting rooms, each having a Thomson Test chart, Slit lamp and Keratometer. Pre-screening includes Canon digital retinal photography and NCT with auto-pachymetry and we have a separate clinical room with a Humphrey VFA and Heidelberg Spectralis OCT. Retinal images and OCT scans are networked to viewing stations in the consulting rooms. We participate in enhanced services in the local area which currently include a MECS scheme and post op cataract assessment. If you are not experienced in these areas, a willingness to learn and develop these clinical skills is required. Our clinical reputation and dispensing excellence, established and developed over the last 45 years, is what keeps our patients coming back year after year. This ethos has allowed us to have a thriving business which has no sales or conversion targets and puts the highest standards of patient care and service at the centre of everything we do.
