Optometrist, Menzies Optometry, Providenciales

Menzies Optometry is a busy independent practice on the beautiful island of Providenciales, in the Caribbean. We have just opened a new and larger facility and are looking for a motivated optometrist that would benefit the practice and who would enjoy island life.

Ophthalmological care on the island is limited so you will be taking care of a wide range of px and conditions in house. You will be dividing your time between refractions and advising patients on lens and frame choices and on the other hand providing post-operative care, glaucoma management and other eye disease management. We have a full set of the diagnostic equipment such as OCT, VR visual fields, retinal camera for this. Our new practice has two testing lanes. You will initially be working alongside a more experienced optometrist but will be expected to progress towards working independently, develop your own patient base and practice management. 

Responsibilities:

• Deliver clinical care for patients in line with professional guidelines
• Perform refractive eye tests, contact lens care, diagnose and manage and advise on any vision defects, diseases or abnormalities. Assists with lens and frame selection and dispensing duties.
• Communicate effectively and provide positive recommendations and information to each patient.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and high standard imaging.
• Write medical referrals to the hospital or off-island clinics.
• Ensure your clinical area is prepared and all equipment is clean, checked and ready for use.
• Maintain the specified patient appointment times during a busy clinic

Qualifications: 

• Fully qualified Optometrist registered with the GOC (or equivalent body).
• Happy to work as the main Optometrist in a relaxed independent setting.
• Clean drivers license.
• Conversational French would be helpful but not required.
