About the practice

A fantastic opportunity to work in a practice that is located at the heart of Reading. We are a large independent practice with 6 consulting rooms. We have some of the latest technology including: 

  • OCT 
  • optomap 
  • topographer. 

We are also a practice that specialises in myopia control (Ortho k and myopia control spectacles) and appointments for visual stress (colorimetry and coloured overlay assessments). 

This role would be suitable for someone keen to work for an independent to develop their clinical skill set. We are looking for a friendly enthusiastic and knowledgeable person to delight our patients.

About the role

We are looking for a Pre-reg optometrist to join our busy, large, clinical team. Roles and responsibilities: 

  • Carry out the required examination in an enthusiastic and caring manner. 
  • Explain each step of the examination so that the patient understands what is happening.
  • Discuss fully the various ways we have to correct their vision or other eye or eye health related issues. 
  • Developing a strong knowledge of all eye exam procedures, equipment and addition services including colorimetry and myopia management. 
  • Three way, in-room hand over to the dispensing / reception team in room, giving all useful information. 
  • Carry out high quality contact lens fittings and aftercare. 
  • Dispensing spectacles and developing good knowledge of the available frames, lens types and ways to correct their vision. 
  • Provide a thorough collection of spectacles/sunglasses including fitting, adjusting, offering future adjustments, and discussing spectacle aftercare. 
  • To understand the reception role including answering the phone and booking appointments, diary management, ordering contact lenses and dealing with customer queries.
