We are lucky to be within walking distance of our local hospital that also has its own ophthalmic department. We have a very friendly supportive team. About the role

The optometrist delivers eye examinations and other enhance optical services to a consistently high clinical and customer-service standard, which drives sales, profit and customer loyalty. We offer MECS and post cataract services at Specsavers Harlow. The optometrist will be highly professional in the test room, and work with the store team to deliver the highest clinical and customer service standards, meeting both patient needs and achieving business objectives.

In this role you will: 

  • Carry out eye examinations in accordance with company procedures and NHS regulations
  • Pre-testing and field screening is accurately, safely and efficiently completed, if it is delegated task.
  • Ensure that any referral letters are written and dispatched promptly
  • Ensure that all customers have a clear understanding of dispensing options for their prescription
  • Advise customers on appropriate eyecare options, including suitability for contact lenses and current promotions
  • Ensure that each customer receives a consistent quality 3-way handover
  • Adopt a flexible approach
  • Maintain patient records to the professional standards required by the company
  • Maintain cleanliness of consulting room and contact lens areas
  • Attend and participate in team meetings
  • Maintain up-to-date clinical and professional knowledge.
  • Perform any other duties as may from time to time be reasonably requested by the senior optometrist
