Pre-registration placement, Specsavers, Ringwood, Hampshire

About the practice

Due to the recent success and planned future expansion of our business, we are currently looking to take on 2 pre-registration optometrists to start in May 2022. We are welcoming applications from pre-reg optoms who are currently in Stage 1 or Stage 2 of the College Scheme for Registration, or who wish to start Stage 1.

We are also welcoming overseas applications. Ringwood is a very affluent market town just on the edge of the New Forest National Park, with Bournemouth and its beautiful beaches nearby.

We are a large and very modern practice with latest state of the art equipment, including a retinal camera and OCT which is linked to our test rooms, 2 different visual fields machines and 3 types of tonometer. We are committed to providing the highest standards of optometry and customer service.

I am an experienced pre-registration supervisor a have been a Stage 1 and 2 College Assessor for 14 years, so I am in a good position to help train and support you. My aim would be to provide an enjoyable year, allowing you to progress at your own speed with full support as required, ultimately successfully getting you through the Pre-Registration Period.

A first-class pre-registration year provides a strong foundation for the future and is what produces a good well-rounded optometrist. My Retail Director, Leanne Robertson, has been with Specsavers for 18 years and has a huge amount of experience in running successful practices.

We currently have an optometric team of 4 employed optometrists and 1 pre-reg optometrist. You would also be supported by our 2 Dispensing Opticians and our Contact Lens Optician.

As a Specsavers Pre-Registration Optometrist, you will benefit from our Pre-reg Academy. You would also attend the Specsavers Professional Advancement Committee Clinical Conference- the largest event of its kind in Europe.

We have very good links with local Hospital Eye Units and other ophthalmology providers, who could help you to gain suitable experience.

Working for Specsavers has the advantage of working in a dynamic and individually run store, yet still offers all the support of being under the umbrella of the UK's largest and most successful Optician. Ultimately, the career progression ladder can also lead to a Joint Venture Partnership for those who are capable and committed.
