Abstract

This paper seeks to highlight some of the issues surrounding the delivery of primary care eye care, and vision screening, services to children most in need of community support. The authors draw from experiences gained from delivering services to a cohort of schoolchildren attending two very different schools in Melbourne, Australia. In one of the schools children from disadvantaged backgrounds, including recent refugee arrivals, those from families with a low-income profile and families from non-English-speaking backgrounds, predominated. This was not the case in the comparator school.
