Introduction

Specialist lenses are used in five main categories: high prescriptions, disrupted visual development, irregular corneal surface, poor cosmesis and therapeutic. The contact lens practitioner needs to have an understanding of the eye conditions being treated as well as the ability to fit the appropriate lens type for each.
