Talking Multifocals: discussion workshop in collaboration with Johnson & Johnson Vision - 11 Oct

Alongside changing visual needs, the onset of presbyopia can have psychological as well as practical implications on a patient’s day-to-day life. In this fast-paced, interactive discussion workshop, you will work alongside your peers to discuss and manage five different presbyopic patients. Focussing on the benefits of effective patient-practitioner communication, this session will allow practitioners to reflect on how to manage expectations and to support patients to make informed choices about their changing ocular and lifestyle needs.

Please note this event is also being run on 12 September, 20 September and 27 September 2023. You only need to attend one of these sessions.

Communication

• s.1 Practitioners will appreciate the importance of a obtaining a full patient history, including the relevance of uncovering the changing visual, ocular and lifestyle needs associated with presbyopia.
• s.2 Practitioners will consider how communication can influence patient understanding and acceptance of their changing needs, and ways to ensure that patients are actively involved in all decisions made about their care.

Clinical practice

• s.5 Practitioners will reflect on their current knowledge of soft multifocal contact lenses, and how to ensure this is kept relevant and up to date.
