Bitesize - Webinar - Binocular Vision - 24 April

This webinar will give some practical advice for optometrists to help regain confidence in binocular vision, which may have been affected by the altered ways of working during the pandemic.

Particular attention will be given to how/when to prescribe prisms, a revision of some of the common BV tests which can be used in practice, and things to consider when writing a referral letter for patients with BV disorders.

The webinar is aimed optometrists who are a bit rusty on their BV skills and knowledge and looking for a refresher, it will be a reminder of some of the core skills they may have been forgotten. It would also be good for newly qualified or pre-reg optoms.

Clinical practice

s.5 Keep your knowledge and skills up to date

• Understands the various factors to consider when prescribing prisms

s.6 Recognise, and work within, your limits of competence

• Understands the relevant information to include in a referral to the orthoptics department

s.7 Conduct appropriate assessments, examinations, treatments and referrals

• Able to select appropriate tests in common use in optometric practice and interpret results in order to determine binocular vision status.

• To attend this webinar you must be a College of Optometrists member, a student, or a pre-registration trainee.
• To be eligible for your interactive CPD point you must ensure the following standards are met, you must:
  • have a minimum attendance of 50 minutes
  • complete a minimum of 4 of the 6 polls
  • complete the post event feedback

CPD does not apply to students and pre-registration trainees.
