Commissioning guidance on cataract surgery

The Clinical Council has endorsed the following commissioning guidance on cataract surgery developed by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. This guidance is in response to public concern that there are wide variations across the country in commissioning policy for the treatment of cataract.

Commissioning guidance on glaucoma

This guidance document applies to commissioning services for adult-onset glaucoma and adults who are at risk of developing glaucoma. It aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people and communities, support local service redesign to ensure the provision of high quality, cost-effective services that meet the needs of the local population, and take into account patient experience. This guidance is a resource to assist commissioners, clinicians and managers deliver high quality and evidence and outcome-based healthcare across England and beyond. 

Eye Health Network for London: Achieving Better Outcomes

This report describes a more co-ordinated approach to the commissioning and delivery of eye health and sight loss services. 

The main recommendations have been produced through the London Network working groups, although along with the Portfolio of Indicators, many will have broader recognition and implications outside of London. 

VISION 2020 UK Ophthalmic Public Health - Portfolio of Indicators for Eye Health and Care

The CCEHC have endorsed the VISION 2020 UK Ophthalmic Public Health’s Portfolio of Indicators for Eye Health and Care. These indicators have been developed to review and monitor the population's eye health, care and well being at national and local level.
