The College is the professional body for Optometrists and a registered charity incorporated by Royal Charter in 1995. It qualifies the profession and delivers the guidance, development and training to ensure optometrists provide the best possible care. We raise standards of optometric education and practice by providing the necessary evidence-base for optometry and related subjects through our delivery, commissioning and support for essential research in the field. We also work to raise the profile of optometry within the healthcare sector so that our members receive the recognition they deserve and are able to play a key role in new models of care plus encourage the UK public to look after their eyes, through our high profile member campaigns and promotional activity.

An opportunity has arisen to join the Clinical Management Guidelines Writing Team. We are seeking an ophthalmologist to join us to provide academic, clinical, professional and ethical advice, insight and support to research, write and maintain the College’s Clinical Management Guidelines (CMGs).
This is a respected role and will give the opportunity to the successful role holder to work with the current CMG Writing Team and has significant impact for our members and for each nation’s eye health system. You will work with teams across the College, as well as a wide range of external stakeholders. While supporting members will be at the heart of your work, the role will be challenging and varied, and provides a great opportunity for you to support excellence in optometry.
We are looking for a qualified ophthalmologist with considerable experience of practice in a range of settings, including working with optometrists in primary or secondary care settings. The post is part time and it is a requirement that you will continue as a practicing ophthalmologist. You will be based at home, reporting to the IP Lead Clinical Adviser.
