College partners with road safety charity to share vision standards advice for drivers

The College of Optometrists has teamed up with road safety charity IAM RoadSmart to encourage drivers of all ages to see clearly when it comes to vision and driving standards.

The College’s clinical advisor Dr Paramdeep Bilkhu has shared practical guidance on meeting the vision standards and looking after your eyes in a new video for IAM RoadSmarts’ website and social media channels.

“When people think about driving safely, they often focus on speed, distractions, or road conditions. But good vision and eye health is even more essential. By sharing our advice with RoadSmart’s members and followers we hope to ensure drivers understand how important good eyesight is when they’re behind the wheel and encourage all drivers to go for their regular sight test.”

“Road safety begins with the driver and rider having legal and healthy eyesight. The importance of regular eye checks cannot be underestimated which is why we’re delighted to be working with The College of Optometrists. Our partnership ensures our members and the wider public hear from expert professionals giving clear, informed advice.”
