Optometrist, UWE Bristol Optometry

About the practice

UWE Bristol Optometry is looking for optometrists keen to support our third year optometry undergraduate students as they complete their university-based clinical training in our state-of-the-art clinical facility, UWE Bristol Eye Clinic. Part of the interdisciplinary School of Health and Social Wellbeing, home to a vibrant academic health and social care community, UWE Bristol Optometry educates the next generation of optometrists in a supportive, student-focused environment, where students have the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to attain the career to which they aspire.

UWE Bristol Eye Clinic, a patient-facing eye care centre situated on Glenside campus, allows UWE Bristol Optometry students the opportunity to gain real life clinical experience in a range of eye care clinics, including:

  • primary eye care
  • contact lenses
  • paediatrics and binocular vision
  • low vision

Students will benefit from the input of enthusiastic optometrists with contemporary experience of these areas of clinical practice.

About the role

You are an optometrist who knows how enjoyable it is to develop the clinical skills of others and are excited to have the opportunity to make a difference to eye care professionals of the future.

You are creative and enthusiastic and hold the same values as UWE Bristol - you are ambitious, collaborative, inclusive, innovative, and enterprising - and want to support UWE Bristol optometry students as well as enhance your own skills in clinical supervision and guidance. Your insights and experience of current optometry practice will benefit the development of UWE Bristol optometry students as they complete their undergraduate training.
