Description

This workshop covers the diagnostic challenges faced in practice when assessing eyelid lesions. How to differentiate which eyelid lesions are benign and which are malignant, features of suspicious eyelid lesions and the associated ocular signs to look for will be discussed. The discrepancies between signs and symptoms and symptomatic vs asymptomatic disease, which can present a diagnostic challenge, will also be covered along with rapid referral pathways and local CCG referral guidelines.

Susan Sarangapani MB BS FRCOphth

Miss Sarangapani carries out both Surgical and Non-Surgical treatments to achieve outstanding natural looking results in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery and facial rejuvenation.

She is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital NHS foundation Trust, where she specialises in Oculoplastic, Lacrimal and Orbital Surgery and is also Head of the Ophthalmology Department. As a core member of Bedfordshire Skin and Head and Neck MDTs, Miss Sarangapani carries out complex surgical reconstructions for cancer and trauma cases, as well as congenital abnormalities. She has undergone extensive training in cosmetic eyelid and facial rejuvenation surgery with an 18 month Fellowship at the Craniofacial Unit at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, which involved training with Plastic Surgeons, ENT and Maxillofacial Specialists as well as Oculoplastics Consultants. Following this, she then went on to complete a further 18 month Fellowship at Imperial College, London in Lacrimal and Orbital Surgery, including Tumour excision of the eyelids and face and reconstruction.

Miss Sarangapani also has a keen interest in non-surgical aesthetics and has undertaken advanced aesthetic training covering a range of different treatments. She has published over 15 peer review publications and regularly presents her work at National and International Conferences, keeping up to date with developments in both the surgical and non-surgical sectors.

By taking a holistic approach, she offers personalised care to her patients in order to deliver the best natural looking results in eyelid and facial restoration treatment. Miss Sarangapani is a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, The British Society of Oculoplastics Surgeons and The Royal Society of Medicine.
