Apply to become a student rep

We are looking for our new College students reps. If you’re enthusiastic, well organised, full of good ideas and a great communicator, you’d make a great student rep – and we’d love to hear from you.

Why should you become a student rep?

Being a student rep is a great way to build the key workplace skills that employers are looking for, such as leadership, teamwork and communication, and it adds that all-important extra sparkle to your CV. You’ll also become a proud owner of a College hoodie!

What does it involve?

  • Helping us to develop our student benefits
  • Spreading the word about our initiatives and events
  • Contributing to our student communications, such as social media and blogs

Who can apply?

First or second year UK optometry students (or third year if you're on a four year degree course). Unfortunately we can't accept applications from final year students.

We will work around your studies, jobs and other commitments, so please let us know about these. We feature students on our social media pages and our website, so let us know in your application if you are not comfortable with this

Apply now! Closing date for applications is midnight on Wednesday 28th January 2025.

Some of your answers below will be used to introduce you on our marketing channels to other students.  As part of your role, please submit a profile picture that represents you well for our marketing materials (top tip for pictures is one taken in an optometry practice or at Uni!)

By uploading my photo, I provide permission for the College to use my image. I understand that my image will be used for marketing purposes including (but not limited to) the website, social media and presentations. I can withdraw consent at any time by emailing data.protection@college-optometrists.org although I am aware any such published material may not be possible to recall if I choose to withdraw my consent. I can find out further information about the College’s Privacy Policy.
