Member alert: Extension to consultation on an optometrist degree apprenticeship

Thank you to all our members who have fed back on an optometrist degree apprenticeship consultation.

This is an important development and in light of the volume of responses, and strength of opinion expressed, the College has sought, and secured, an extension for consultation submissions to 10 January 2020. This will ensure everyone has the chance to share their views.

Our response to the consultation will be shared with members for feedback. This is a set format consultation and the structure does not allow for the representation of all of our members' concerns. As a result, the College will also reflect these views by theme through an open letter to the trailblazer group. This will be shared in advance for your feedback.

What can you do?

If you have not done so already, please let us know what you think about the proposal for an optometrist degree apprenticeship – give your views here by 13 December. We will then share our draft letter and consultation response with you by 20 December.

It’s also important for you to respond to the consultation directly by 10 January 2020.

In the meantime, you may want to read our Q&A which addresses the most commonly asked questions from members on degree apprenticeship issues.
Your voice will be heard, and we look forward to working with you.

Regards,
