Our team of eye health experts and historians are on hand to help with media enquiries and are happy to speak via email or on the phone. They are experienced in speaking across all media platforms and make regular television appearances.

Daniel is one of our clinical advisers for four days each week, dividing the remainder of his time between primary care optometry and community glaucoma clinics in East Anglia. He is a passionate advocate of the profession, committed to supporting all practitioners and ensuring that patient care is always at the heart of optometry. He has helped lead the sector’s response to the pandemic and has made many national media appearances discussing the importance of good eye health and the vital role of optometry in primary care. Before joining us, Daniel was the Managing Director of a practice in Cambridge and a visiting clinician at Anglia Ruskin University. He has also worked as a senior glaucoma optometrist with Addenbrooke’s Hospital Trust, Cambridge, and as a diabetic retinopathy screening program grader. He was awarded an MBE for services to optometry in 2022.

Outside of practice, she is a Trustee of Autism Bucks, a fundraiser for Riding for the Disabled and has volunteered for the Tibet Eyecare Project and Vision Aid Overseas. She is also passionate about the wellbeing of optometrists and has worked to support colleagues in the workplace. She is a trained performance coach and works as a mentor with Women in Vision. In 2019, she won the Macular Society’s Awards for Excellence - Optometrist of the Year.

He is our independent prescribing lead adviser, Clinical Management Guidelines writing team member, leads our myopia management guidance and evidence review and is one of our expert spokespeople.

Paramdeep has worked as a post-doctoral researcher, module coleader for the Independent Prescribing qualification, and taught on both the undergraduate and postgraduate optometry programmes at Aston University. He is a Fellow of The Higher Education Academy and continues to publish in a range of peer-reviewed scientific journals, with interests in contact lens performance, and ocular surface and eyelid disease management.

Neil is recognised as one the UK’s principal historians of spectacles, vision aids and opticians. He has been curator of the British Optical Association Museum at the College since 1998 and is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers.
He took over as Chairman of the Scientific Instrument Society in 2023 and has also served as a Past President of the Ocular Heritage Society of America (2019-20), which has awarded him its speaker’s medal on several occasions. Neil can advise on historic optical items, including their identification and dating, and has been consulted by several film and television productions.

Neil is recognised as one the UK’s principal historians of spectacles, vision aids and opticians. He has been curator of the British Optical Association Museum at the College since 1998 and is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers.
He took over as Chairman of the Scientific Instrument Society in 2023 and has also served as a Past President of the Ocular Heritage Society of America (2019-20), which has awarded him its speaker’s medal on several occasions. Neil can advise on historic optical items, including their identification and dating, and has been consulted by several film and television productions.
He was awarded the Associateship of the Museums Association in 2002, has been a Museums Association Mentor for younger curators and now serves as a Professional Reviewer for the Association’s CPD Scheme.
Neil was elected Chairman of the prestigious London Museums of Health and Medicine (2011-14) and became a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (FRSA) in 2012.
Neil has published articles on spectacle frame design, the history of opticians, artificial eyes and facial prosthetics. He has co-authored and contributed to a number of books including Cult Eyewear (2011) and one of his articles featured in the missing words round of ‘Have I Got News for You’. He was an adviser to the recent Wellcome Collection exhibition ‘In Plain Sight’ (2022).
