Sight is often considered to be the most valuable sense, but it remains susceptible to damage. The article explores sensory integration, and how other sensory modalities can adapt and compensate when one sense such as sight becomes impaired. The authors also describe the results of a UK-based cross-sectional online survey, where members of the public were surveyed to explore which sense they considered to be most valuable.
