Dry eye disease lubricant discontinuation audit

This article outlines an audit of dry eye prescribing in community practice, examining the factors associated with long-term lubricant use.

Independent prescribing optometrist Ross Henderson presents a retrospective audit of NHS prescribing in community practice. The author identifies risk factors that may be helpful in deciding whether patients will need a repeat prescription from their general practitioner, and reminds optometrists that caution should be exercised in requesting repeat prescriptions without exploring other treatment options.
