If patients are in an NHS diabetic eye screening programme, recall should be the same as for patients who do not have diabetes. (This applies for patients who have 6, 12 or 24 month diabetic eye screening reviews.) Younger people and people of black and Asian ethnicities are affected by sight-threatening diabetic retinopathy more than other groups, you should use your professional judgement to determine the most appropriate sight test interval based on your patient’s clinical needs and risk factors⁹⁴. 

You should report all relevant findings to whoever is responsible for the overall care and clinical management of the patient’s condition.
