Opportunity for optometrists and dispensing opticians involved in teaching and training.
For the second year running the Irvine Aitchison Memorial Fund, in partnership with the College of Optometrists and supported by FODO, is delighted to be able to offer the opportunity for a group of optometrists and dispensing opticians to undertake a course in Essential Skills in Medical Education. This course, developed by the Association of Medical Education in Europe, has been designed to provide training for those involved in teaching healthcare professions.
This is an online course delivered over 12 weeks via a series of interactive web-based presentations and online discussions. Module content includes:
Optometrists and dispensing opticians who are currently, or soon to be, involved in teaching and training undergraduates, pre-registration and qualified optometrists and opticians. This course is open to those who are new to teaching and training as well as those with experience but who want to improve their existing skills.
The Irvine Aitchison Memorial Fund will support optometrists and dispensing opticians to undertake this Essential Skills in Medical Education training.
This online course is rated as 8 credits, which is equivalent to 80 hours work. You should be able to commit to an estimated 6-7 hours of work per week. This includes attending webinars, participating in discussion groups, reading and completing the assignment.
We will also ask you for feedback at various stages throughout the training and on completion of the course. This is to help us understand the value of the course and to see if there are any areas we need to consider providing further training opportunities.
The Irvine Aitchison Memorial Fund will pay the Essential Skills in Medical Education course fees.
