Speaking Up consultation – help inform our response

The GOC has launched a consultation on its new draft Speaking Up guidance, designed to support registrants to speak up about concerns, particularly those affecting patient and public safety.

The GOC has launched a consultation on its new draft Speaking Up guidance, designed to support registrants to speak up about concerns, particularly those affecting patient and public safety.

The guidance was developed following learnings from recent healthcare inquiries, such as the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust Public Inquiry, and in line with the GOC’s duty of candour guidance.

The College will respond to the guidance, but we want your input to help inform our response. Please use the form below to have your say – we will read and consider all responses, and will share a draft of our response before submission to the GOC. UPDATE: our response form is now closed.

You can also respond directly to the GOC at optical.org.

Our timeline

10 Feb: Deadline for you to help inform our response

24 Feb: We will share our draft response on our website, giving a final opportunity for comments

10 March: We will respond to the GOC, and share our final submission with you.
