The NHS celebrates 75th birthday

The celebrations are a chance to pay tribute to NHS staff.

On 5 July 2023, the NHS will mark 75 years of service with various celebrations across the country.

The celebrations are a chance to pay tribute to ongoing commitment, resilience and dedicated professionalism of NHS staff, including optometrists, working in the health and social care system.

Optometrists are a longstanding partner of the NHS workforce, providing eye care services spanning primary, secondary and domiciliary care. Our profession plays a vital role in the screening, monitoring and treatment of many eye conditions, including cataract, glaucoma and anterior segment eye disease while providing 16.8 million NHS sight tests each year.

Look out for events such as NHS park runs, Big Tea events and photography competitions.
