College hosts celebration of innovation and collaboration in eye health research

The event was in partnership with City St George's, University of London, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, King's College London and The Royal College of Ophthalmologists. It brought together researchers, clinicians, industry partners and research funders to showcase collaborative research across optometry and ophthalmology and to exchange ideas, build connections and explore future research opportunities.  

The programme included a guided tour of the College's British Optical Association Museum, Europe’s leading museum of optometry and optics, followed by presentations from: 

• Dr Bethany Higgins – research fellow, City St George’s, University London
• Alistair Laidlaw – consultant ophthalmic surgeon, Guys & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust
• Shreena Patel – research optometrist, City St George’s, University London
• Dr Sancy Low – consultant ophthalmic surgeon, Guys & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust
• Professor Tom Williamson – consultant ophthalmologist, Guys & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust
• Dr Peter Jones – reader in optometry & visual sciences, City St George’s, University London
• Professor Philip Bloom - Consultant ophthalmic surgeon, Imperial College NHS Foundation Trust
