We are proud to have been one of the first optometry schools in the world, having started teaching technical optics in 1898 and delivering full-time courses for optometrists since 1927. 

Our team comprises academic colleagues from a broad range of disciplines, including; optometry, orthoptics, biology, physics, psychology and mathematics. 

Our strong and positive relationships with ophthalmology departments and leading optometrists allow us to pull together an outstanding team of academics, visiting clinical tutors and guest lecturers for our programmes.

City St George’s, University of London Department of Optometry and Visual Sciences are hiring. This is an exciting new appointment with City St George's, University London, School of Health and Medical Sciences, with strong links to clinical practice. It brings together one of the leading academic institutions in health sciences teaching and research with quality care for families, children, and communities. 

The candidate will contribute to curriculum and educational development through the integration of scholarship, and professional activities with support for learning. 

Are you passionate about training the next generation of optometrists at one of the oldest departments of optometry in the world? We have been delivering full-time courses for optometrists since 1927. 

To apply you must have: 

• current registration with the General Optical Council as an optometrist 
• a post-graduate degree or appropriate and equivalent professional qualification 
• extensive clinical experience 
• experience of teaching 

We are particularly keen to hear from colleagues who have Independent Prescribing qualifications and/or professional certificates in Glaucoma and/ or Medical Retina.
